Ride Menu
We found these on another site and have adapted them to our ride and get the word out
about our rides.  We have also added in a few things folks did along the way last year to get
some fantastic things at their auctions.
Get these in a PDF format here.  If you have tips
please send them in and we will add them here.  You may use the form below.

Start early!
Don’t be SHY!  If you don’t ask, the answer is always NO!
Make it personal.  Tell people why you are involved.  You will be amazed about how
many people lives are touched by breast cancer.
Don’t forget to ask at your place of business.  Many large companies usually like the
tax write-off.  One lady bought a box of candy bars and sold it to her coworkers letting
them know how she was going to use the proceeds.  From the first box she took part
of the proceeds to continue buying candy and set the rest of the money aside to
purchase items for the auction at her ride.  She continued selling candy all year, and
was amazed at the response from her coworkers.  The results were amazing.
Create a flyer!  In it talk about what the money will go to, what the ride is about, and
what YOU are about!  Mail it to everyone you know and even include a self addressed
stamped envelope to make it super easy for them to respond.  We have example
flyers and brochures on this web site.  Click on the links to see them.
If your company has a newsletter or other mode of communication for all the
employees’, find out if you can post an announcement.
Talk to everyone you come in contact with:  Farrier, tack store, grain store, other rides
and so on.  Refer back to tip number 1!  Many found that wearing a Hooves for a Cure
shirt from the CafePress Store with our logo on it got lots of attention where ever they
went.  Keep your flyer or brochure handy to pass out at other rides.
Ask you local store (horse or otherwise) if you can place a collection jar on their
counter.  Make sure you have your flyer there explaining what the donations are for.
We have made a nice tri-folded brochure that would be great for this use.
Send reminders out 2-3 weeks prior to the deadline for those who may have
intended but simply forgot.
Email!!  What a powerful tool!  Send information and a request to everyone in you
address book and don’t forget to encourage them to pass it along to everyone in
theirs!  Include the link to www.hoovesforacure.com to make online donations via
PayPal.  The online donations make it easy for them to follow through.
Blogs!!  The a very similar and powerful tools as email.  As well forums and other
places that horse people chat online.
Ask friends and family to donate to the ride in lieu of giving you a gift for an occasion.
Send PERSONAL “Thank You” notes to all you donors!  This makes people feel
special and insures they will think of you next year and remember the note.  The
Hooves for a Cure CafePress Store has postcards and note cards with our logo that
would be perfect for those notes.
Set a $$$ goal and tell people what it is.  Keep them up to date on your progress.
Funny, some people like to be the one to go “over the top.”  Email, blogs and forums
are great ways to show this progress.
Reciprocal donation for everyone who asks for your sponsorship, ask for theirs in
return.
Go to your favorite riding club meeting and stand up and ask the club to sponsor you.
Have Fun!  If you are enthusiastic about what you are doing, people will respond with
the same enthusiasm.

Let's see what we can all do to raise money for a cure!
