We had a wonderful ride last year!
On October 6, 2007 10am the Hooves for a Cure Prayer was read and close to 300
riders headed out on trails across Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas, lacing trails
in pink as trail riders joined together to raise funds, awareness and fund
mammograms to fight Breast Cancer with “Hooves For A Cure.”
How it all began...
The idea had been on the mind of Skiatook trail rider Debbie Briggs for quite some
time, but when her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer, the wheels began
rolling to implement the program. With the help of fellow trail riders and members
of The Bad Girls Trail Riding Club, Oklahoma Equestrian Trail Riding Association.,
Duncan Lake Riding Club, Bushwhackers in Oklahoma and Cowgirls UP in
Arkansas and Missouri, the rides were scheduled and held with great success. All
rides the rides began at 10:00 a.m. October 6, 2007. Each ride involved some
differences due to location and local participation.

Some participants rode for “honorees” of the event, most of which include the
riders' friends and relatives affected by breast cancer. Several riders were breast
cancer survivors. The riders were encouraged to wear and tack up with as much
pink as possible. What a site it was to see.  Not only the women, but the men and
horses were not shy about wearing Pink!

Everyone involved agreed that it was an awesome experience and all the
organizers said “let’s do it again!”
So join us on October 4th, 2008!
Net proceeds will be donated to fund mammograms, research and to raise
awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
